Integrated Gear Software: Overview

 
Integrated Gear Software ("IGS") is a suite of expert systems software for design and manufacturing of gears.  It is the latest (March 2003) release of the original product in use since 1984 and updated many times since then.
 
With the release of IGS UTS has raised the bar for Gear Design and Manufacturing software. IGS combines the analysis power of UTS Gear Software programs (market leader for nearly 20 years) with today’s technology to bring you a powerful suite of user-friendly design and manufacturing tools for your gear software needs. The new software includes:
 
  • A project manager that keeps track of your designs and allows you to reuse designs without having to start over.
  • A database for all the entered values that allows data flow from one Program to the next without having to reenter it.
  • A Data input form that guides you through data entry. But still allows you to view your previous entries
  • A “Power User” Form which allows you to change data for any entry and resolve
  • Separate reports for each program, according to a preset format.
  • Comparison reports that help you compare different runs such as the ones you make to do tolerance analysis (for example looking at the effects of min/max center distance.)
  • Customizable reports - you can select which data (inputs, outputs, plots) should be shown. Customized reports can be saved as your own report templates for future use.

 

Data Input

 
Each program in IGS has its own data input form and a wizard which guides you through the data input process, thus making your job easier. Here is one example.
 

 
In addition to the customized data input form Power users can work directly in TK Solver, the engine that runs most of the programs in IGS.
 
Reports 
 
IGS provides the following types reports:
 
  • Separate reports for each program, according to a preset format.
  • Comparison reports that help you compare different runs such as the ones you make to do tolerance analysis (for example looking at the effects of min/max center distance.)
  • Customizable reports - you can select which data (inputs, outputs, plots) should be shown.  Such customized reports can be saved as your own report templates for future use.
 
IGS also provides a facility to add your company's name and logo.
 
When you have customized a report, click the “Preview Report” button to produce the report, which can then be printed or exported (in Rich Text Format, .RTF, or Page Definition Format, .PDF).  A report-customizing screen is shown below.
